The Association of Young Spanish Ophthalmologists (AJOE) will have the support of Farmamix to organize this event under the title "What to learn from my first failed surgery?".
The AJOE will hold the meeting on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am within the framework of the 98th congress of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology (SEO) and which in this edition will be hosted by the city of Pamplona.
The meeting will be coordinated by the president of the AJOE, Dr. Ángel López Vázquez and Dr. Diego Ruiz Casas. López Vázquez explains that "the objective is that the residents of Spain send us videos of their surgical complications and that we then comment on them in order to know the errors and how to correct them".
"The cases that will appear will be totally anonymous and in any case will have a didactic and constructive objective. This is a meeting of incalculable educational value," emphasizes the president of the AJOE.
To this end, it is proposed that ophthalmology residents make videos of a maximum of 3 minutes showing ophthalmologic surgeries in which something unexpected happened or something went wrong and explain how it was solved.
A brief description of the procedure should be included and whether or not the author of the video is authorized to be identified during the presentation. Among the testimonials received, 10 will be selected to be discussed during the symposium by and for residents to be held in Room Luneta 1 of the Congress Center and Auditorium of Navarra.
